In collaboration with IMU Cares, AMSA IMU set up a health screening booth during Chariofare which is a charity run held annually by IMU. For the health screening booth, we had four stations: Body Mass Index (BMI), Blood Pressure, Blood glucose level and the 20/20 vision test. The volunteers for all these booth were mainly second year medical students, with a few students from other courses, and have all received training prior to the event. The response for the health screening booth was quite satisfying, quite a number of people especially those who participated in the run came for it. Overall, it is a successful event without any major flaws.

Transfer of Funds to Beneficiary: HOSPIS Malaysia
Following the fundraising event organised by AMSA Ambassadors from 9th June to 20th June 2014 by selling cookies and JCo donuts, a total amount of RM1,046.00 have been raised. The funds raised in the event have been transferred to our beneficiary, HOSPIS Malaysia on 29th August 2014 (Friday). This is done through a visit to HOSPIS Malaysia located at Jalan Cheras by three AMSA Ambassadors by passing the funds to the PR Executive, Miss Abigail Peter at 10.10am. Meanwhile, Miss Abigail has also toured us around the centre, explained to us the roles of the doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and volunteers working in the centre, as well as introducing us some of the upcoming events organised by HOSPIS that will require participation of volunteers. |
