The AMSA Ambassador Teddy Team of ME216 successfully organized their very own Teddy Bear Hospital in collaboration with Global Indian International School.
This was a meaningful event where our ambassadors created different medical procedure work stations such as general check up, X-Ray, surgical and recovery stations for the children to experience a simulated hospital procedures. We would like to make good use of this chance to teach children that hospital procedures are not fearsome and it is always necessary to treat and cure diseases for better quality of life. We are currently receiving teddy bear donation from students and staff in IMU to run a Teddy Bear Donation Project in children hospital. Share love, Team Teddy We took part in IMU SRC's Recruitment drive on 14th and 15th September 2016.
It was from 11am to 2pm on both days. Our main aim was to promote AMSA among the new intake students, mostly, ME216 students who are our newest members. We also gave information about our AMSA Ambassadorship program, which is specially tailored for Semester 1 Medicine students. More than 150 students dropped by our booth on both days and we received over 60 pre-orders for the T-shirts. The booth was manned by the Excos and ME116 Ambassadors. A special shout out to Mike, Odie, Siobhan and Hanna for helping us out even after your official term was over! Some AMSA IMU Executive Committee members attended the MMSC. -Schyna- Photo Credits: MMSC Facebook page Session 1: First Monday of May 2016 was a public holiday, so the first session for May was on 8th May, 2016. Standardising tests were given to all the students, to determine which category they fit in; pre-beginner, beginner, intermediate and advanced. This test would be given annually to see the progress of the students. The test includes 4 papers; A - Prebeginner level, B- Beginner level, C- Intermediate level and D- Advanced level. The students currently in Prebeginner level were given Tests A and B. Beginner level students were given A, B and C. Intermediate students were given B, C and D. Advanced students did tests C and D. The purpose of giving these tests was to see which category each student fit in, since there are some students who are under or over-performing for their current standards. Since a lot of the students were missing because of the one-week holiday the week before, the test was given to the new comers on the second session of May as well. -Schyna- Session 2: Most of the students who live elsewhere didn't attend DBRO anymore because they lived a bit far. So only the students who live in ULC attended. Worksheets were given to students who had already done the test, and for the newcomers, the test was given. After every session, when we are packing up to leave, they start their hobbies. Some children play the guitar, some play the piano, some sing, some play foot ball and some dance. It's very heartwarming to see them enjoying all these activities so much. More videos will be posted in the following sessions. So stay tuned! -Schyna- AMSA Ambassadors are chosen from semester 1 Medicine students to give them exposure to AMSA IMU and it's activities, for them to help the Exco with the projects and also to organise their own activities.
